Small improvements and updates

We've launched a number of small updates and fixes, making each site on Guidelines that little bit better:

• Set a maximum menu size on small devices
• Added font sizing options for small screens
• Made dragging elements smoother on small screens

Editor improvements

November 17, 2024

We've made it far easier to quickly edit and extend your brand guidelines. We're hoping this helps speed up everyone's workflows:

• Sections can now be copied, letting you paste them elsewhere on your page, or anywhere in Guidelines, even a different site.
• Individual blocks can also all be copied, pasted into the same section, new sections, or entirely different pages and sites.
• Text can now be pasted directly onto a section, creating a new Text Block. Previously it needed to be pasted directly into a text block, this makes editing that little bit faster.
• Command-D (or Ctrl-D on Windows) can now be used to quickly duplicate a block or a section.
• Alongside a few minor bugfixes and improvements.

Duplicate Page

November 13, 2024

You can now duplicate a page, creating an identical copy with a new name and URL. Under the Publish dropdown menu, select Duplicate Page.

Invite Landing Pages

November 9, 2024

We've added more informative Invite Landing Pages to give your team, clients and external collaborators a personalised page, explaining how they can access your brand guidelines when you invite them.

Video updates

November 5, 2024

It's now easier to upload videos directly to your brand guidelines. Video blocks support video uploads, as well as videos hosted on YouTube, Vimeo and Loom. Sections also support videos, allowign you to upload a video that autoplays in the background, at the full size of the section.

Color improvements

• New Palettes now autofill with your colours, making it faster to place palettes on screen.
• When uploading new logos, suggested colors can be added with one click to your brand palette.
• Small improvements to palette color rendering

Small experience improvements

• Language for Single Sign On users is now clearer and specifies the organization's name.
• Overlapping drag handles are easier to select when editing a site.

Brand management

We've made it easier to manage logos, colors or typography styles when you're editing a brand or individual logos.

• Logos, colors and typography styles are all now sortable, letting you order them for every editor using the brand.
• Self hosted fonts are now easier to upload, automatically generating their name from your fonts.

Usability Improvements

We've added a few improvements to make editing smoother and easier:

• Corner and Margin fields can now be linked, allowing you to edit all four fields at once
• Drag horizontally over any unit input in the editor to quickly adjust the value
• Site navigation can now take SVG images
• Better default settings for color palettes

Border Control

You can now add borders to section blocks, letting you better control the look and layout of your sites, this includes:

Passport Control

September 22, 2024

Single Sign On customers can now control which users should have login access to organisation sites. This includes a new controls to automatically grant access to new users logging in with email addresses associated with domains you choose.

Logo Management

We've just launched an updated logo management feature, letting you manage all of your brand's logo variations more simply. With this update, you can now:

• Manage all your logo variations and sub-brands in one place
• Add a new "Logo" block to your site, which automatically updates as you adjust your brand

Site Templates

September 10, 2024

Today we're introducing Site Templates, which can quickly create a draft of your new brand guidelines.

When you create a new site, you can start from a Blank template, or start with a pre-made template from Guidelines. These templates map your brand styles to each page and section.

We'll continue to add more templates to the collection, to give you a quicker start for your document.

Brand Creation and Management

We've made it easier to create and manage your brands on Guidelines. Many studios manage brand books for multiple clients. With this new interface, we've made it easier to see all of your organisation's brands, add new ones, and easily associate these brands with new sites.

We've also added new permission levels, so you can grant access to designers in your organisation to edit and adjust brands.

Visual Precision Improvements

We've made a number of minor fixes and improvements:

• Improved the visibility of other editors when collaborating
• Made it quicker to add sections to a page
• Improved the preview grid sizes for more precise editing
• Improved the precision of the section padding preview on responsive sizes
• Fixed an issue where certain key presses could reset some block values

Typography Specimens

August 29, 2024

We've added a new block for typography specimens. Previously, you could add text blocks to demonstrate your fonts and typography styles. With this new block, you can easily create specimens with labels, whose labels and typography are dynamic as your brand evolves.

Minor improvements and bug fixes

• Automatically pre-loads the next page when the infinite scroll is in view, preventing short first pages from stopping the infinite scroll.
• Fixed bugs preventing adding items to blank sections in certian conditions, and deleting sections in certain conditions.
• Accessibility improvements for editor dialogs

Color Palette Improvements

We've introduced new options for color palettes, allowing you to quickly create color palettes for your brand:

• Adding new colors now automatically picks the next color, making it lightning fast to add color scales
• Adding horizontal and vertical layouts, with grid spacing for more flexible layout options

We've also added scaling controls for images, allowing more fine grained control over image sizes within the your grid.

Introducing Section Templates

These templates allow you to create a new section with a pre-set layout and blocks. This is speeding up our process of creating new brand guidelines sites, and we hope you find it useful. Down the track, we'll add support for you to save your own templaets, letting you easily build pages, one templated section at a time.

Nicer looking videos on Guidelines

• Allowing autoplaying background videos on sections. Lots of brand books are featuring beautiful motion elements of their logos. We love being able to support these kinds of videos within the platform.

Typography settings

Typography styles now have a default HTML heading level. This makes it easier for the heading level to be set correctly when you're writing content. The heading level can always be changed in the editor.
