Connecting Claude to your brand guidelines

The Claude MCP integration allows you to connect your Guidelines brand data directly to Anthropic's Claude using the Model Context Protocol. This enables Claude to access your complete brand system, including colors, fonts, typography styles, logos, and Guide pages, for design and development assistance.

Note: Custom connectors work on every Claude plan. View Claude pricing. Free accounts can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds the connector for the organization, then each member connects to it.

To connect Claude to your brand guidelines:

1. Access the integration in Guidelines

• Navigate to your brand dashboard in Guidelines
• Click on Integrations in the sidebar
• Find Claude in the AI Tools section
• Click to open the integration setup guide

2. Add a custom connector in Claude

• Go to claude.ai/settings/connectors and click Add custom connector
• Fill in the connector details:
  • Name: Guidelines
  • Remote MCP Server URL: https://mcp.guidelines.site/mcp
• Click Add to save the connector

3. Sign in to Guidelines

• Claude asks you to sign in. Sign in with your Guidelines account and approve access.
• Our MCP reads data from your brands, and does not have write access

4. Start using your brand system

Once connected, you can ask Claude questions about your brand at claude.ai and use your brand assets in AI-generated content. Try these example prompts:

• "What brands do I have access to?"
• "What are the colors for the [your brand name] brand?"
• "Create a new app and use my brand colors, fonts, typography styles and logos"
• "Design a landing page following our brand guidelines"
• "What are the font weights available for our primary typeface?"

Available tools and data

The Guidelines MCP server provides Claude with the following tools:

Brand Tools

• list_brands - Lists all brands accessible to you, grouped by organization
• get_brand - Get detailed information about a specific brand including logos and colors with their groups, fonts, typography styles, and available Guides
• search_brands - Search for brands by name or organization name

Guidelines Tools

• search_guidelines - List or search Guides by name
• get_guidelines - Get all page resources for a specific Guide
• get_guidelines_page - Get a single Guide page as markdown, for clients that don't support resources

Resources

Claude can also list and read individual Guide pages as resources:

• URI Pattern: guidelines://{domain}/{slug}
• Format: Markdown content from your Guide pages
• Access: List all pages and read specific page content

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues connecting:

1. On a Team or Enterprise plan, check that an Owner has added Guidelines to your organization
2. Verify you're signed into Guidelines with an account that has access to the brand
3. Check that your Guidelines subscription is active
4. If you added Guidelines before October 7, 2026, remove the Guidelines connector in Settings → Connectors, then add it again with the steps above
