Editing a page in Guidelines
In this tutorial, we'll walk through the basics of editing a page in Guidelines, including text formatting, block styling, and publishing options.
Opening a Page for Editing
From your dashboard, click on the website you want to edit. If you have permission, you'll enter the editor, with page navigation on the left and the editor panel on the right.
Editing Text
Editing text is simple:
- Click directly on the text to edit it.
- Updates are saved automatically and visible to collaborators in real time.
- Click to make changes live for anyone with access to your guide.
You can also:
- Apply typography styles from the top menu bar (headings, body text, fine print).
- Use (if you have access) to adjust global font styles, sizes, and spacing across all sites using the brand.
- Maintain semantic heading structure (H1 for the main title, followed by H2, H3, and so on).
Formatting Options
Guidelines provides built-in formatting tools:
- Change text color (restricted to your brand palette).
- Apply bold, italics, or add links (to other pages in Guidelines or external URLs).
Styling Blocks
Every block has a toolbar with styling controls. You can:
- Adjust base and background colors.
- Add or remove borders.
- Control alignment, padding, and corner radiuses.
This gives you fine-grained control over how each section looks on the page.
Page Settings
Each page has additional options in the editing menu:
- Title – the page name.
- Slug – the URL path after your domain.
- Meta description – for search engines.
- Share image – for previews when sharing the link.
Publishing options include:
- Publish live.
- Unpublish and revert to draft.
- Duplicate or delete the page if needed.
Conclusion
With these tools, you can edit and format any page in your Guidelines site. From updating text to customizing layout and publishing, the editor gives you full control over your brand guide's presentation.
